The Spring School on Service Learning is part of the ENGAGE STUDENTS project that focuses on social responsibility of higher education institutions at student and teacher level. More specifically ENGAGE STUDENTS aims to strengthen the social dimension in education, which is an an important European priority in the renewed EU agenda for Higher Education, by promoting students’ transversal skills through the use of service learning (SL).
SL has been proven to enhance the students’ interaction with the community, effectively fostering personal, academic and civic development. The essential elements of this learning approach is the active involvement of students in solving a need identified in the community and intentionally providing spaces for reflecting upon the experiences. The Spring School we be an opportunity for exchanging experiences among the students about their service learning activities in their home universities.
